Dr Geoffrey CS Smith

Geoff is a Specialist Shoulder, Elbow and Upper Limb Orthopaedic Surgeon at St George and Sutherland Hospitals and St George Private Hospital, Sydney.

He specialises in arthroscopic and endoscopic surgery, joint replacement and trauma reconstruction surgery.
He trained in Leeds and Edinburgh before migrating to Australia and pursuing specialist orthopaedic training in Queensland. He then underwent further fellowship training in shoulder and elbow surgery in Sydney and Bristol.  His research areas include shoulder and elbow replacement, rotator cuff repair, superior capsular reconstruction and computer modelling of the shoulder.  He has published extensively on orthopaedic surgery, contributed to numerous book chapters and presented at national and international scientific meetings.  Geoff is a conjoint lecturer at UNSW where his ongoing research on scapula morphology and its biomechanical effects on the shoulder will lead to the award of a PhD.
