Dr Geoffrey Smith is a Specialist Shoulder, Elbow and Upper Limb Orthopaedic Surgeon at St George and Sutherland Hospitals and St George Private Hospital, Sydney.
He specialises in arthroscopic and endoscopic surgery, joint replacement and trauma reconstruction surgery including complex primary and revision cases.
He trained in Leeds and Edinburgh, UK, before migrating to Australia and pursuing specialist Orthopaedic training in Queensland. He then underwent specialist fellowship training in shoulder, elbow and upper limb surgery in Sydney and Bristol, UK. He has been a Specialist Shoulder and Elbow Surgeon since 2012.
His research areas include shoulder and elbow replacement, rotator cuff repair, superior capsular reconstruction and computer modelling of the shoulder. Geoffrey has multiple peer reviewed publications and has contributed to numerous book chapters on disorders of the shoulder and elbow. Geoffrey is a conjoint lecturer at UNSW where his ongoing research on scapular morphology and its biomechanical effects on the shoulder will lead to the award of a PhD.
